Benzodiazepines possess a class of drugs frequently prescribed for the relief of anxiety. Frequently prescribed benzodiazepines include Tavor, Valium, Rivotril, and Ativan. Each of these drugs acts on the central nervous system to enhance the effects of a neurotransmitter called GABA. This produces in a calming effect, lowering feelings of anxiety.
